A Beauty, A Pest, and Apollo's Tears!

This beauty is the Common Water Hyacinth. The seven species of water hyacinths comprise the genus Eichhornia of free-floating perennial aquatic plants. Erect stalks support single spikes of 8-15 conspicuously attractive flowers, mostly lavender to pinkish in colour with six petals.
One of the fastest growing plants known, water hyacinth reproduces primarily by way of runners or stolons, eventually forming daughter plants. They may also reproduce via seeds. The common water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) is a vigorous grower known to double its population in two weeks. E. crassipes is known as an important and pernicious invasive species.

This is a seasonal pest in wetlands, which outgrows and eventually chokes all other native plants, when not controlled. But, it is a very important member of wetland cycles. This photo is showcasing the untamed bloom of water hyacinths on the IIT-B side of the Powai lake.

Incidentally, Hyacinth was a spartan divine hero who was accidentally killed by Apollo's discuss and Apollo created the flower hyacinth from his spilled blood: it is said to be still bearing the tear-stains of the Sun-God Apollo who loved Hyacinth. The story can be found at

Some times people without knowing what they are doing or what they are supposed to do will start instructing others and then this is what would happen …

Once upon a time there used to be a DHOBI (like in most of the stories). Unlike other stories he had a horse and a donkey. The donkey was really good at not doing anything; so I will call him smart. The horse was intelligent, hardworking and efficient in work but honest; so I will call him dumb.

Now so far so good as we have missed an important character of the story: the legendary DHOBI. A perfect human being (as per the definition of human beings; they have a few drawbacks). The king of the state was a really noble man with a dream that all his people should live healthy life. And for that, there should be a minimum level of hygiene in the state. So he declared an offer for all that one who will give best suggestion for fulfilling the dream will get one fifth of his wealth. The perfect man of ours went with a plan to win the amount and proposed to the king that he will do the task by cleaning the cloths of all people. And he got kings’ assignment to keep his city neat and clean.

Amangal was the village taken as first week’s task. The village was a common Indian type with various kinds of people in it. Some very sophisticated, educated and well to do people and some poor slum-dwellers. The task of keeping them all neat and tidy was really a gigantic goal to achieve in a week’s time.

to be very honest writing is not my cup of tea neither learning a new language but still lets c what ll happen to both of the things (propbably atleast one should work heheheh)
